Laguna Lakeshore Expressway Dike, good or bad idea?

Laguna is such a nice place.

During his fifth State of the Nation Address, President Aquino said a mega dike in Laguna and a green city in Subic are among the top public private partnership (PPP) projects being eyed by the government.

The estimated cost for this project is about 36.7 billion pesos

The intention is good, but it should have been a project prioritized and already implemented since 2013. Unfortunately, until now, nothing has been started.

Secondly, will it benefit the residents of Laguna despite fishing is their only means of living?

According to him, bidding for the Laguna Lakeshore Expressway Dike would begin before the year ends.

Proposed expressway to start from the coastal area of Laguna de Bay from Taguig in Metro Manila to Calamba and Los Baños in Laguna. The proposed area is larger than the Bonifacio Global City.

In addressing flooding in the area through the construction of a dike, which will also result in cleaner water for Laguna Lake, Aquino says that the Clark Green City will be the “center of commerce and industry in Central Luzon.”

He mentions that Laguna Lakeshore Expressway Dike will cost an estimated PHP36.74 billion or US$854.42 million.

And when constructed, it is expected to ease traffic congestion along Muntinlupa and Calamba area, and to serve as flood control measure for communities on the western shore of Laguna de Bay.

‘Yung gagawin ho para dito sa Laguna de Bay, malawakan po yun. ‘Di po agarang magagawa ‘yan. Ihihinto po natin yung pag-angat ng tubig nang mabilis. Dike na malaking-malaki ‘yan, di ho kapiraso lang at medyo taon ho ang pinag-uusapan natin d’yan’ PNoy adds.

This seems to be a hard project, it costs a lot plus how long will  it destructs many lives when they start doing it?
